An article in the publication AdultSpan Journal tells us, “A focus on meaning and purpose provides a positive, optimistic perspective that is counter to disemboweling views of aging based on losses and deficits.” For many years, gerontologists and sociologists have believed that having purpose and meaning in later life is a kev to longevity and health. To see how true this is, observe the difference between the ways in which two mature individuals cope with retirement. One leaves her full-time job and dives into volunteer work, painting, church work, and travel. She feels useful and energized and meets new people. The other person leaves his job and plays golf. This grows boring, so he sits and watches television. His mind slows. He becomes isolated and angry. Which person do you think lives longer and better?

Purpose is essential to life. The Purpose Project at the Center for Spirituality and Healing at the University of Minnesota validates this idea: A sense of purpose and meaning give us the will to live. With it, you are practically indomitable; time becomes meaningless as you cherish each moment. Without it, well, you’re just taking up space.

Now that you have begun to discover the kind of person you want to become, you are free to begin discovering your life’s purpose based on your clearer perceptions of who you are and who you can become. You will use your revitalized brain to find your true potential as an entrepreneur, creator, grandparent, healer—whatever you want to be. So ask yourself, what are your goals? Some questions to get you started:

» What have I always wanted to do?

*    What is my passion in life?
*    Do I feel fulfilled?
*    What do I value most in life?
»     What do I see as the meaning of my life?
»     What would I like to achieve in the next ten A ears?
*    What would I like my legacy to be?

The meaning of your life is up to you. What an opportunity! So think about what fires your passions. Think about \what you could do every day for the next twenty years without ever becoming bored. Then make it happen. Your brain, now fully  awakened, has the ability to change your world and the world around you

These lines are copied from book of Dr Ilchi Lee about Dahn Yoga. This motion helps you keep your wrists open and can help vou prevent carpal tunnel syndrome. In addition, it is a good challenge for the brain.

Extend your left arm straight out in front of your chest and twist your palm so that it faces toward the left.

Place your right palm on the left palm and clasp your hands together. Keeping your palms tightly clasped, bring your hands down toward vour abdomen, bending your elbows.

Lift your clasped hands toward vour chest and upward between your arms and extend them out as straight as you can.

Hold this position for 10 counts.

Return and repeat on the opposite side.

SIDE STRETCH

In addition to giving you a satisfying stretch of the muscles all along the side of the body, this posture will also help you improve blood circulation to the organs in the abdomen.

Place your left hand on vour left leg. Inhale, and at the same time reach the right hand over the ear toward the left side. Allow your left hand to slide down your leg to a comfortable position. Try to keep your body upright without bending forward. © Hold this position for 3 counts. Exhale and slowly return to your original position.  Repeat 3 times on each side of the body.

Repeat this movement in the opposite direction, trying to touch your right ear to your right shoulder. Slowly turn vour head to the left. Repeat this movement in the opposite direction, turning vour head to the right. Next, rotate your head to the left. Repeat this movement in the opposite direction.

This is a great exercise introduced by Ilchi Lee for rejuvenation at any time. Not only does it help you release tension held in your shoulders and upper back, but it opens your chest for easier breathing.

Place one arm behind your head and grab vour wrist with your opposite hand.  Pull down on your wrist while pushing the elbow up above the head.  Breathe in and push back on your arm with your head.  Hold this position for abou 5 counts and then release.    Repeat on the opposite side.

REACH-UP

This stretch helps balance both sides of your body, which is ultimately related to balance between the left and right hemisheres of your brain. It also stretches and opens parts of your chest that are normally static.

Place your right foot forward and your right palm on your right thigh. Inhale and reach behind your head with your left hand, your palm facing the ceiling. Let your head drop back as you follow the movement of the hand with vour eves.

Exhale and slowlv return to the original position. Repeat 3 times and then repeat on the opposite side of the body.

A great deal of tension may be held in the abdomen, which is one reason many people develop digestive troubles. Use this exercise to help release tension and to improve intestinal function. Although this exercise is shown in a standing position, it can also be done seated or lying down.

Stand with vour feet shoulder width apart. Place your thumbs on your navel with your hands forming an upside-down triangle. Keeping your upper body relaxed, pull your abdomen inward. Now push your abdomen out, making it round like a balloon. Repeat this motion several times, working up to 100 or more repetitions.

Stretching Exercises by Ilchi Lee

Brain health depends to a large extent on proper circulation in the body. The best way to maintain circulation is through flexibility and mobility. Create the habit of stretching your entire body every day to make both your body and brain healthier. If you find that you are not quite as flexible as you used to be, be patient with yourself. These exercises do not have to be performed perfectly to be effective, and you will have great improvement with consistent practice.

NECK STRETCH

The neck is one of the most likely parts of the skeleton to become misaligned. If you have ever had a stiff neck, you probably know how important it is to maintain neck alignment. This exercise is great for helping vou keep your neck in balanced alignment, which is often changed for the worse by the things we habitually do.

Move only your neck and head, very slowly. Relax the rest of your body stretch your neck backward, pushing your chin upward. IP Bend your head sideways to the left and try to touch your left ear to your shoulder.

Knee problems are among the most common physical complaints as we get older. Use this exercise to help prepare your knees for any strenuous activity.

Bend your knees slightly and keep the bottoms of your feet flat on the floor.Rest your hands on your knees, but do not put any weight on your knees with your hands. Relax your upper body. Rotate your knees, together, in a circular otion toward the right. Do not raise the bottoms of your feet off the floor. Repeat the movement, circling in the opposite direction.

Rotate your knees in little circles, inside to outside, allowing your knees to separate slightly. Repeat the movement in the opposite direction, outside to inside.

ABDOMINAL TAPPING

This exercise may seem a little strange at first, but it is very effective to bring circulation to the internal organs. It will also help you keep centered within your body.

As you rhythmically pat the lower abdomen with the palms of both hands, blood and energy are distributed throughout the body. Abdominal exercises assist in the prompt removal of excess gases and waste from the body, and you will feel increased warmth in the lower abdomen as well.

Spread your feet at shoulder width and bend vour knees slightlv. Point your toes slightly.

Contest winner has been announced here.

There is a teaching in the Buddhist tradition that states that the waking and dreaming states are one and the same, and that you should always give one hundred percent of your mind and body to reach your goals. We often dream of projects or the work we do while we are awake. Through dreams, we also receive messages or inspiration related to the work we do when we are asleep. This speaks to our level of concentration on a certain goal.

Vision is a category of information that has the power to awaken the brain. When our brain focuses one hundred percent on a certain project, the full potential of the brain is geared to making it come to fruition. In an integrated brain, it is even possible to access the power of life that is stored in the brain stem. The power of life in the brain stem is part of the fabric of life of the cosmos. In other words Dr. Ilchi Lee explains, the energy of the universe will move toward manifesting your vision.

Everyone has fortuitous experiences in which a key piece of information or help has been literally dropped into their Lip. This is not a coincidence, strictly speaking. It is the result of your cerity and concentration that is “moving the heaven and earth” to channel cosmic energy for the purpose of reaching a certain goal. When something seemingly impossible is made possible, it often involves the creative power of the brain. Vision Meditation Exercise seeks to access the creative power of the brain by firmly planting a specific vision deep in the consciousness, thus igniting the whole brain to work toward its fulfillment for Dahn Yoga training.

As Ilchi Lee informs that, it is necessary to reinforce new information in your head in order for it to become a habit. Otherwise, it is very easy to revert back to your old system of values, old insecurities, and to your old identity. It takes courage to break away from the familiar, from that which feels safe and secure even when it is strangling our soul. In order to make enlightenment an everyday habit, we need to practice until our brain is hardwired to work for the good of all. Our brain needs to be trained to “Hong-Ik” at all times.

For DahnHak training the fifth step of Brain Respiration is the stage in which we learn to actualize the enlightenment that we have realized during previous stages. What is the way to utilize one hundred percent of the capacity of a newly integrated brain? The key is to supply the brain with information that is positive, fun, refreshing, and delightful… with information that will fully motivate the brain to act to its full capacity. Such information is called a vision. Only when the brain is working for a vision will it function at an optimal level.

Mastering the brain consists of three training programs: ” Vision Meditation” designed to produce a brain that is vision oriented; “Self-Creation” used to reinforce a new you by putting positive and affirming information into your brain; and “Feeling the Earth” which teaches how to actualize enlightenment in everyday life. Through repetitive training, enlightenment will become a natural part of your life, and your brain will have developed into a Power Brain, which is creative, peaceful, and productive.

When you choose which information is creative, peaceful, and productive, you must have a standard on which to base your decision. This is simple. The answers are “Earth” and “Peace’.’ The question to ask when making any choice is not “Is this good for me, my country, or my faith?” Instead, we must ask ourselves, “Is this good for the Earth?” Instead of asking, “Will this enhance niy competitive ability?” ask, “Will this enhance the opportunity for peace in this world?”

Earth and Peace are two passwords that give you access to the true abilities of your brain, for the Earth is more immediately valuable to us than the survival and propagation of any religion or nation-state, and Peace forms the foundation of all values that are precious to us.

The brain is the rendezvous point between our soul and the cosmos. On a physical level, however, the brain is the central processing station for all the information that activates and moves our body. Depending on how you use its immense potential, the brain can be characterized as a “Golden Brain” or a “Dark Brain.”

Doctor Ilchi Lee explains that a Golden Brain is creative, peaceful, and productive. It processes and generates positive information to heal the self and others. On the other hand, a Dark Brain generates destructive or unproductive information, resulting in harm to ones own soul and the souls of others.

We have learned that the experience of meeting the essence ot life vibrating in the brain stem will give us a new realization and confidence to choose who we want to be and what we want to live for. These choices will lead to the utilization of one hundred percent of our brain to fulfill our innermost spiritual desire.

However, just because you wake up early one day doesn’t mean that you will continue to wake up early every day.

Dahn Hak education by Professor Ilchi Lee.

DahnHak Program Information By Ilchi Lee

The diagrams depict the process of achieving growth by overcoming your limitations. If A is your current equilibrium state of consciousness, you can only reach B by overcoming your limitations. Similarly, you can advance from B to C, growing through a series of visions.

The bright, white line in the diagram represents the guideline for your vision. The nature of the vision must be positive, ultimately pointing to a common destination. Therefore, when formulating a vision, make sure that it is aligned with completion of your soul. Otherwise, you may achieve your vision but for the wrong; reasons.

Professor Ilchi Lee advice that first, ask yourself how much growth you want during this lifetime? Let’s say you started from the level of 200 and reached 400. If you are satisfied with 400 as the level you want to achieve in this lifetime, then no further advancement will be made. If you want more growth, you must set an even higher goal. Then, what is the highest vision you can set for yourself? Borrowing from Dr. Hawkins work let’s say it is the level of 1,000 lux. This is the level of divine goodness, where instinct to benefit others, Hong-Ik, finds greatest expression.

Creating a world based on our inner divinity, and a peaceful global community based on a higher human collective consciousness, is the ultimate vision shared by all people, whether they realize it or not. When we consciously acknowledge and share in this common vision, our deepest spiritual instincts will be satisfied.
