DahnMuDo by Ilchi Lee is a comprehensive system of movement that is derived from the 5,000-year tradition of Korean healing and martial arts forms. DahnMuDo includes principles and practices for the enhancement of life energy and for the development of the ability to use energy. With the enhanced energy awareness gained through consistent training, practitioners can heal themselves physically and energetically.

Another phrase used to describe DahnMuDo is “the art of being limitless.” The word dahn means “energy”; mu means “limitless”; and do means “the way.” Thus, it is a discipline designed to develop power and to uncover endless creative energy. Through diligent practice, practitioners work to attain unlimited awareness, which is the true source of personal freedom and creativity.

Although DahnMuDo is a form of martial art, it is not used to compete or fight with an opponent. Rather, it is designed to enhance personal strength and integrity. The ultimate goal of DahnMuDo is to develop a complete human being who has full mastership of body, mind, and spirit.

While many DahnMuDo forms can be physically challenging, it is gentle enough to be practiced by anyone of any age. The speed, strength, intensity, and height of particular moves might be different for each individual practitioner, but the forms are intentionally designed to avoid injury to the body, unlike other combative martial art forms. It is said that the ideal age for practice is from eight to 88.

1. Place your left foot forward. Inhale. Raise your left hand towards the ceiling as you tilt your body backwards, fol lowing the movement of your hand with your eyes.

2. Simultaneously, place weight on your right toot with your right hand on your right thigh. Tilt backwards as much as you can. Exhale, and return to step 1. Notice the sensations in your lower abdomen and waist as they become stimulated. Repeat twice. Then perform steps 1 through 3 using the opposite side of the body.

Overcoming the problems we face today and planting the seed of peace is not a task for any one nation, people, or religion. This will only be possible when spiritually awakened people from every corner of the world share the power of a single vision and create an alliance of Earth-Humans. This alliance must not be an end in itself. Nothing happens just because you have incorporated an organization, appointed its directors, and adopted the bylaws. Nothing happens without a fundamental change in humans. Our habits, our thoughts, and our lives must change. Our human character must undergo a fundamental shift.

One hundred million is not a huge number. It is eminently doable. It is only one percent of the world’s population, which is expected to crest to ten billion in twenty years. With only one percent of the human population, we will form the critical mass needed to begin the construction of peace. Peace in which every human being of every color, religion, and nationality can and will participate, with willingness and joy. Then we will have realized Maeo’s Dream.

Prof Ilchi Lee books on earth humans.

The second step will consist of training people who are skilled enough to participate in the construction of this grand mansion. It will truly be the most magnificent mansion in the history of humankind. We need a program to train and graduate people, who not only share our vision, and add to the strength of our will, but who also bring skills and actual building know-how to the task at hand. The training program that I have created and systematized is called Dahnhak and Brain Respiration, in which people undergo an intimate, one-on-one experience of the energy of the Earth. Through this program they become Earth-Humans.

However, I am not beholden to any one system of training, even one of my own making. I am only interested in the result, the birth of a community, one hundred million strong, of Earth-Humans, skilled artisans in the construction of the ‘Peace House.’ The creation of these Earth-Humans is the third step in the process.

The fourth step in the building process is the formation of a worldwide alliance that will combine the strength of all earth humans and coordinate their efforts. We can’t have people trying to build this house separately. There needs to be organization and coordination. Otherwise, we may end up with a house with five bedrooms, but without any bathrooms, or with several dining rooms, but without a kitchen. I have called this alliance the “World Earth-Human Alliance.”

A set of breathing postures designed to restore the Su-seung-hwa-gang state to the body, Jung-Choong Breathing helps to build energy in the lower Dahn-jon and unblocks the body’s two main meridians. Consistent practice of these postures will improve energy accumulation and circulation in the body and stimulate the body’s natural healing ability.
DahnMuDo (for Ki-jang)

DahnMuDo is the combination of Dahn principles and Korean Traditional Healing Martial Arts. Through the practice of DahnMuDo, we can master the method of moving and spreading energy accumulated in the Dahn-jon through the whole body. In this non-combative, healing martial art, we learn how to use our body to enhance our mental and spiritual strength while gaining a sense of personal integrity.
Relaxation and Meditation (For Shin-myung)

In Dahn Yoga, practitioners focus on energy to create the meditative state. They usually begin by focusing on energy between the palms. While increased sensitivity to energy is a definite benefit of this practice, it is not the end goal. Rather, the goal is to help calm an individual’s thoughts and emotions, which are the root cause of the stress held in the body. As the sensation of energy increases, the body and mind become more and more relaxed. In this stage, practitioners learn to re-create their lives through vision meditation, which infuses the mind with positive thoughts, feelings, and imagery.

Myung-hyun phenomena can also occur when an individual’s old emotional habits begin to change and negative emotional energies are released. Emotional Myung-hyun can manifest as inexplicable mood swings, sudden depression, or angry outbursts.

Remain positive and grateful for the opportunity to become more energetic. Where your mind goes, energy follows. If your mind is bright and positive, bright and positive energy will come to you.

If you experience like Ilchi Lee of Myung-hyun, you may not want to continue your practice. However, maintaining your practice is usually the most efficient way to recover. If you go to a Dahn Yoga Center, consult your instructor.

At the height of the debate, the white-robed gods suggested a radical idea: if the gods followed their suggestion and the project failed, then they would change into black robes, signifying a fundamental change in the direction of the universe. This is logical, for even gods have to take responsibilities for their choices. Choice is free, but one must take responsibility for its consequences. This is the rule that a creator has to follow. The black-robed gods agreed to this arrangement and the project proceeded with a unanimous vote to unlock the divine creative potential in humans.

Those that favored unlocking the divine creative potential wore white robes and the opposition wore black. This division represented a more fundamental division among the gods: one side wanted to expand the use of the divine creativity in all areas of the universe and, accordingly, went around planting seeds of divine information. The other side wanted to limit the use of divine creativity, and was consequently busy scooping up the seeds of divine information that the white-robed ones had scattered.

However, knowing that they represented opposite but necessary sides that brought a balanced tension to the universe, each side respected the work of the other. But in the case of the Omega Experiment, as we might call this project, they needed unanimity among the gods in order to take any action, since it was originally conceived and begun as a collective project. Therefore, the debate intensified.

So far I have presented life purpose as a core issue of Human Technology. I have proposed that life purpose is realized through the awakening and choice that arises from listening to your soul. I view the process of spiritual awakening and fulfilling our life purpose with passion as the core ot a spiritual lite.

Although we hear and feel the voice of our soul, we cannot see it. Only we know whether or not we are living for the growth of our soul. But, if there is a marker that can show this to others, it is our character. Although the soul cannot be seen, our character shows our soul’s level of growth.

We make choices in the midst of a hectic world and a multitude of relationships. We act according to these choices and are evaluated on these actions. That evaluation gives us a chance tor self-reflection, after which we may decide to choose anew. Through this process of choosing, acting, and reflecting, our thoughts, actions, and habits evolve. During this process we may face hardships and suffer setbacks. However, with honest and diligent deliberation, we learn to be more introspective.

In this sense, our spiritual emergence requires our full engagement with society. Our relationships and communities serve as the best environment for our spiritual development. The people we meet in any context, with whom we interact, work, and play, are all partners for our growth. Just like us, they have an inner voice. They, too, realize the transience of life. Just like us, they may be struggling with the meaning of their lives, and they are growing through their experiences. By declaring that we are partners and playing well together, we are all that much closer to realizing a community founded on enlightenment.

If life is a source of continuous happiness write by Prof Ilchi Lee, then we may not need philosophy or spirituality. We do not normally bother ourselves with the meaning of life when we feel happy. When happiness recedes, we question the meaning of life. “Why is this happening to me?” “What point is there to life?” When happiness returns, we forget about these questions. But then another change arrives and we question again. “How can this happen to me again?”

The conditions that make us content do not last forever. Eventually, they are bound to disappear, and we will once again find ourselves wondering about the meaning of life. Only when we mature sufficiently to the point where we are no longer deceived by this repetitive cycle, do we begin to question ourselves deeply and earnestly.

Eventually we strip off the layers of meaning that we had so carefully constructed around our lives, a process that leads to emptiness and loneliness. Most of us cannot bear this loneliness. We try our best to forget these questions, yet we remain haunted always by their echoes in the back of our minds. However, if we wish to realize the truth behind life, we need the courage to look this emptiness straight in the eye.

When you have realized that life is basically suffering punctuated by fleeting moments of happiness, when you accept that state of unbearable emptiness, then you will know you are on the path of the soul. When you find yourself demanding the unchanging truth with all your being, know that voice and remember it. You need courage and discipline to hold on to these questions that cry out from the depth of your soul.
